Background uploads on iOS

Close the app, lock the phone — uploads keep going.

You can lock the phone, switch to another app, even put it in your bag. The upload keeps going.

How it works

  • The app uses iOS background-upload sessions — these are managed by iOS itself, not by the app process.
  • iOS will pause uploads if your phone is on low battery, or if you're on a metered connection without permission. They resume when conditions improve.
  • If the app crashes mid-upload, iOS picks it up next time you open the app.

When uploads pause

  • You go offline — uploads resume when connectivity returns.
  • You hit a cellular limit and you'd told the app to wait for Wi-Fi.
  • The phone enters Low Power Mode — iOS throttles background tasks aggressively.

Worry-free way to upload a competition day

Plug in to charge in the car on the way home, leave the phone on Wi-Fi when you're inside. By morning everything's uploaded, transcoded, and ready.

Force-quitting interrupts

Swiping the app away in the iOS app switcher kills the background session. Open the app and let it run; don't force-quit if you have uploads in progress.
