Camera roll scanning

How the app detects horse videos in your camera roll without uploading them.

The app peeks at your camera roll and flags videos that look like horse footage — so you don't have to scroll past birthday parties to find your competition rounds.

How it works

  • An on-device ML model looks at each video's frames and decides whether a horse is present.
  • It runs entirely on your phone. Your camera roll never leaves the device for this step.
  • Results are cached so the same video isn't re-scanned every time you open the app.

What you'll see

  • Horse-detected videos appear with a horse icon overlay.
  • Other videos are dimmed but still selectable, so you can override the detector when needed.

False negatives are possible

On wide shots where the horse takes up little of the frame, the detector may miss. If a video you know is equestrian isn't flagged, it's still in the list — just not highlighted. You can upload it normally.

Privacy

We only ever read the videos you choose to upload. The horse-detection scan runs on your device and produces nothing more than a per-video yes/no flag stored locally.
